By the time the fire dies down, it is time for the boiler system to come on to heat the floor for 2-3 hours. By the time the stove gets going and is regulated for the day, the well insulated home is running efficiently. The hot water for the house is part of the boiler system; one of the benefits is that there is abundant hot water for showers and baths. The land to the north side of the property is held as a green space by the neighbors. The 4 acres of land slopes to the West and is bordered by a wild space that is a bird sanctuary. There are trails through the forest that lead to the skiing, mushing, biking trails of Goldstream Valley. The Skarland Ski Trail is nearby across to the East side of Goldfinch Rd.
